The Center for Advanced Bio-Energy Research (CABER) is structured to facilitate the development of crossdisciplinary research and development, education and outreach programs that promote greater and more efficient use of biorenewable resources, and more specifically, support the emergence of advanced biofuels and chemicals. Professor Hans Blaschek is director of the new center.
CABER is expected to:- provide enhanced visibility to the University of Illinois in the bioenergy arena,
- improve collaborative relationships among faculty in different Colleges,
- help shape national energy policy which can lead to improved funding opportunities.
Currently, CABER is involved with planning the design of the Integrated Bioprocessing Research Lab, developing a bioenergy curriculum at the graduate level and planning a variety of symposia and workshops for a wide range of audiences.
